This policy explains what data Mayo Rishtay (mayorishtay.com) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.

1. What we collect

  • Email address — used to sign you in via one-time code. We never share it with other users.
  • Biodata you provide on the profile form — name, age, gender, marital status, location, education, profession, family information, and what you're looking for.
  • WhatsApp number — stored encrypted at rest. Decrypted and revealed only when you and another user have mutually accepted a rishta.
  • Activity data — rishtay you send / receive, shortlists, blocks, reports.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, timestamps, for security and abuse prevention.

2. What we never collect

  • Photos — there is no place to upload one and we don't ask.
  • National ID / CNIC numbers.
  • Payment information — we don't currently collect any.

3. How we use your data

  • To show your profile to other users of the opposite gender (Mayo Rajput biradari only).
  • To send rishta notifications and platform emails.
  • To detect spam, abuse, and fraud.
  • To improve the platform.

4. Display name

You control how your name appears in browse. By default, women's profiles show only their first name and last initial. Your full name is revealed only when a rishta is mutually accepted.

5. Who we share with

To run the platform, we rely on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers, each contractually bound to keep your data confidential and to process it only on our instructions:

  • Secure cloud hosting and database providers (to store and serve your data)
  • An email delivery provider (to send your sign-in codes and notifications)
  • Security and content-delivery providers (to keep the platform fast and protected from abuse)

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We do not share your data with any other matrimonial platform.

6. Data retention

Profile data is retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, rishtay, shortlists, and notifications are deleted immediately and irrevocably. Some technical logs (for security purposes) are retained for up to 90 days.

7. Your rights

  • Edit: change any field in your biodata at any time.
  • Pause: hide your profile from browse without deleting it.
  • Delete: permanently delete your account and all associated data. Go to your profile edit page to do this.
  • Block: stop a specific user from contacting or viewing you.
  • Report: flag a profile for review.

8. Security

  • WhatsApp numbers are encrypted with AES at rest.
  • All connections use HTTPS.
  • Database row-level security prevents anyone from accessing data they shouldn't.
  • One-time email codes (no passwords to steal).
  • Rate-limited rishta sending and OTP requests to prevent abuse.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no online platform can be completely secure. You use Mayo Rishtay at your own risk, and to the maximum extent permitted by law we accept no liability for any unauthorised access to, loss of, or misuse of data beyond the minimum the law strictly requires.

9. Cookies

We use only essential cookies (for authentication and session management). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers that follow you across sites.

10. Children

Mayo Rishtay is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change.
